Why an in-home family photography session might be the best decision you make this year

There is a particular kind of magic that happens when you photograph a family in their own home. No one is performing. No one is trying to look like a family - they just are one. And that’s when I get my favourite shots.

In-home family photography has grown hugely in Sydney over the last few years, and I think it’s because parents are tired of the stiff park session where everyone has to look at the camera and smile. Real family life is messier than that - and a whole lot more beautiful.

Here’s what an in-home session with me actually looks like. I arrive, we have a chat, the kids do whatever they’re doing, and I start shooting. I’ll move through your home following the energy - the kitchen, the backyard, the couch. I’m looking for the small things: the way your toddler reaches for your hand, the way your kids pile onto each other on the bed, the chaos of a Tuesday afternoon that you’ll actually want to remember.

My recent session with a gorgeous young family in Westleigh is a perfect example. Bush views, a rainy deck, bare feet on wet tiles. Nothing staged. Everything real.

In-home family photography sessions are available across Sydney including the Hills District, Northern Beaches, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs and everywhere in between. Get in touch to chat about booking your session.
